Polk County Appeal Attorney
Are you seeking an appeal?
My name is William D. Sites, Attorney at Law and I am a seasoned Lakewood criminal defense lawyer. I provide qualified legal representation in criminal appeal cases involving misdemeanors, felonies and federal offenses. I am licensed to practice in all courts in the State of Florida, as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District Court of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. You have the right to appeal a conviction if errors or mistakes were made at your trial that resulted in a guilty verdict. This can include:
- Mistakes were made in the instructions given to the jury
- Errors were made in your sentencing
- There was insufficient evidence for a conviction
- Your rights were violated
- Other mistakes or errors were made in procedures and the law
An appeal requires skilled and determined legal representation by a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney. I combine my comprehensive understanding of the appellate process with uncompromising representation in court. If legal errors were made during your trial, I will aggressively seek the justice you deserve.
Lakeland Appeal Lawyer
Once you have received a written copy of the judgment in your criminal case, you have 30 days to appeal the decision. The purpose of an appeal is to give a person that did not receive a fair trial an opportunity to have their conviction reversed, or their sentence reduced. An appeal is a request that a higher court review the decision of the lower court to determine if proper legal procedures were followed. At the appeal hearing, the judge will ask the attorneys that are present questions about the case. The person requesting the appeal does not attend the hearing, and no witnesses are called. The judge's decision is based solely on any procedural errors that may have occurred during the trial.
My firm will conduct a thorough review of your case and give you honest feedback regarding the potential for a successful appeal. I offer a free consultation, and look forward to speaking with you about your case.
